Wrap-up: Kevin Regan Memorial 1-Pitch Softball Tournament
Saturday September 16th
Congratulations to First Call Mortgage for winning the First (and hopefully annual) Kevin Regan Memorial Softball Tournament. After getting dropped into the loser's bracket by 13 Pack (12 Pack with some extras for the tourney), the boys from FCM, lead by WMSL veterans Albie Cail and Richie Queen, amongst others, had to reel off 4 straight wins in a 4 hour span to secure the championship. They narrowly avoided elimination in their first loser's bracket game by coming back in the bottom of the 7th inning against the Gashouse Gorillas, and then winning the game in the 10th inning. Then, in the loser's bracket final they bested the new incarnation of the Irish American Club (FCM used to play under the IA name when they were in town), which moved them into the finals where they met up with the same 12 Pack team that dropped them into the loser's bracket only hours earlier.
The finals proved that the two best teams of the day were competing for the championship. 12 Pack needed only one more win to secure the championship while FCM needed to win the first one to force a winner take all championship game. Both sides played some great softball with FCM reeling off two straight games and walking away with the Championship.
To prove that they were the true Champs of the day, FCM donated their hard earned prize money back to the tournament so it can be donated with the rest of the proceeds from the day.
Special thanks goes out the the teams that took part in the tournament: First Call Mortgage, 12 Pack, Irish American Club, Gashouse Gorillas, Allstars, Sons of Italy, Tanner Tavern, Colossus, Galvin Law, and Team Regan. We'd also like to thank all of the corporate sponsors and league fans that donated raffle prizes and money to the benefit. Additional thanks goes to everyone who took part in the day by purchasing T-shirts, food, raffle tickets and bracelets. We're still tabulating the total amount of money raised and will share that with all of you when it's known.

The website does its best to post cancellations as soon as they are announced. This isn't always possible, however. The "official" notifications will be recorded on the League Hotline, and the Message Board is always a good place to check for updates if the front page doesn't have any news...
WMSL Maintenance Notice
Please take all field and parking lot trash with you when you leave. We have already been told by the rec. department that beer cans and bottles have been found in the trash barrels at the field. If this continues they will shut us down...

Don't forget that it is the responsibility of *all* teams to email the results to scores@woburnmenssoftball.com after *every* game. If you want to be able to keep track of standings all season long, send in those results...
